Stellar wind bubbles around WR and [WR] stars

چکیده
We study the dynamics of stellar wind bubbles around hydrogen-deficient stars using numerical simulations with timeand ion dependent cooling. We consider two types of hydrogen-deficient stars, massive WR stars, producing Ring Nebulae, and low mass [WR] stars, producing Planetary Nebulae. We show that for the Planetary Nebulae, the different cooling properties of the hydrogen-deficient wind lead to a later transition from momentumto energy-driven flow, which could explain the observed turbulence of these nebulae. We find that Ring Nebulae should all be energy-driven, and show how comparing the bubble’s momentum and kinetic energy to the input wind momentum and kinetic energy, can give misleading information about the dynamics of the bubble.

Wind-Blown Bubbles around Evolved Stars
Most stars will experience episodes of substantial mass loss at some point in their lives. For very massive stars, mass loss dominates their evolution, although the mass loss rates are not known exactly, particularly once the star has left the main sequence. Direct observations of the stellar winds of massive stars can give information on the current mass-loss rates, while studies of the ring n...
متن کاملPossible wind blown bubbles associated with five Of stars
Four fields of ∼ 5◦ × 4◦ have been surveyed using the Hi-21 cm line (hpbw = 0. ◦5) in searching for Hi interstellar bubbles in the environs of several Of stars. The analysis of the data disclosed four bubble candidates, three with almost complete envelopes. Their dimensions are ∼ 40 pc and their expansion velocities around 10 km s−1. For each structure sweptup masses (1000 to 8800 M ), original...
متن کاملPhysical Properties of Wolf-Rayet Stars
The striking broad emission line spectroscopic appearance of Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars has long defied analysis, due to the extreme physical conditions within their line and continuum forming regions. Recently, model atmosphere studies have advanced sufficiently to enable the determination of stellar temperatures, luminosities, abundances, ionizing fluxes and wind properties. The observed distribut...
متن کاملHigh-excitation nebulæ around Magellanic Wolf-Rayet stars
The SMC harbours a class of hot nitrogen-sequence Wolf-Rayet stars (WNE) that display only relatively weak broad emission lines. This indicates low mass-loss rates and makes them also hard to detect. However, such stars are possible emitters of strong He Lyman continua that in turn could ionize observable He iii regions, i.e. highly excited H ii regions emitting nebular He iiλ4686 emission. We ...
متن کاملRadio and Infrared Properties of Dust - Enshrouded Wolf - Rayet Stars
This paper discusses our ongoing efforts to characterize dust-enshrouded Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars in the radio and infrared. We have used the Very Large Array to measure the broadband radio spectrum of WR stars in suspected binary systems and discovered non-thermal emission, which is usually attributed to colliding winds. In addition, infrared imaging using aperture masking interferometry on the K...
